The main goals of KNUS are to work for the mentally disabled persons rights and opportunities on an equal footing with the rest of society:
1. Develop and educate inside all schools of art and culture
2. Participate in cultural and artistic activities.

KNUS will also work for:
3. Brightening up the knowledge and influencing the legislating within this area.
4. Securing the artists rights to their own works.

KNUS is also functioning as knowledge-, development- and promotion centre:
5. For the mentally disabled persons cultural and artistic activities in their homeland and abroad
6. To brighten up the knowledge of the mentally disabled persons artistic activities to the rest of the society
7. To promote and make contact between mentally disabled artists
8. To promote and make contact between teachers, social education workers, artists and agents, who are co-operating with mentally disabled artists
9. To act as artistic agents for mentally disabled artists
10. To develop educational methods for a multifarious cultural engagement for mentally disabled artists
11. To participate in national and international co-operations.
