Film KNUS invites

to international short film festival for mentally disabled people in the city of Odense, Denmark.


Odense's new cultural house, the Culture Machine is organizer of the international short film festival in Odense, which runs in week 34, 2009.

KNUS is an association, that wishes to inspire, promote and communicate the diversity of mentally disabled people`s cultural activities. Through member’s activities and our website, we want to focus on creative things, and other exciting events taking place around in Denmark and aboard.

Film KNUS has got space in the short film festival and invites members of KNUS to show their films.
Besides members of KNUS, a few other activity centres will be invited to submit films and the invitation will also be sent to our international partners.

Invitation: KNUS invites members and partners to submit their films. It doesn’t matter, that they have been displayed before and are made in the past. We see our participation as a unique opportunity to be in the heart of the established festival and be a part of the cultural life in the city of Odense. Through members' films, we can tell stories and show the artistic and creative work with films.  

We will collect movies for a block, that is about 1 ½ hour with different short films. Some products may last 3 min. others half an hour. It can be short stories or documentaries made by or in cooperation with mentally disabled people. The “film makers”/film companies do not have to be present during the presentation in the cinema.

Requirements: the submitted films must be completely ready with the sound, light, etc. – so that it can be shown in the cinema.
It's free to join the festival with films.
KNUS and the Café Biografen will display and assemble the program.
The movies, which we receive and show, is not participating in the established film festival competitions.

Film KNUS - Friday, the 21 August:
We will show the movies at 11:15 to 12:45 o`clock.
Place: the Café Biografen hall 3, in Brandt's Crossing in Odense. In the hall there are 33 seats, and good access and space for 3 or 4 wheelchair users.
There is free admission at the films.
NB We can not pre-order space / tickets. The doors will close, when the hall is full.

Exhibition:
when we have seen the films, we do hope, that many will join us to the Culture Machine and their café, where mentally disabled people are exhibiting arts and crafts.
At the café of the Culture Machine you can buy coffee.

Movies can be sent on DVD and VHS.
When KNUS receives movies, we will select the movies, which will be displayed at the cinema. When we are ready with the program, it will be on our website www.knus.nu, along with other informations about the festival. It will be in early August.
All films will be returned after the film festival. Therefore, it is important to write the name clearly on the films.
